Feb 25th Workshop: Parents of Children on the Spectrum Share Their Museum Experiences

on Wed, 02/13/2013 - 4:57pm

We welcome representatives from the museum and disability communities to join the Museum Access Consortium and the New York Metro Chapter of the National Autism Association for an interactive workshop with parents of children who have autism, who will share their experiences of visiting cultural institutions.  This workshop will center around small group discussions that will provide museum professionals and parents of children with autism to share their experiences, perspectives, and ideas on providing more welcoming experiences for children on the autism spectrum and their family members, and will also examine how best to market to and connect with families in meaningful ways.  Coffee and donuts will be provided for this morning workshop.  This workshop will be co-hosted by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum Access Consortium, in partnership with the New York Metro Chapter of the National Autism Association.  Special thanks to the FAR Fund for the generous support of this workshop series.
